Forwarding Notice - Take Olympia Strong Survey

Take Olympia Strong Survey

The public is invited to take a survey that will help create the broader vision for Olympia Strong: A Roadmap for Economic Resiliency. The survey will be open through August 15 on Engage Olympia.

This survey marks the start of Olympia’s public process to form a long-term economic resiliency plan. This will be a strategic framework and specific actions the City and partners can take to strengthen our local economy and help residents, businesses and the broader community weather challenging times. There is also a focus on resiliency for the City organization, to ensure revenues are available over the long-term to fund community goals.

With this first phase of the project, the City is inviting people to help create the broader vision and define what economic resiliency should look like in Olympia.

BACKGROUND

At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Olympia joined forces with economic development partners from around the region in an effort known as Thurston Strong. The partners took immediate action to respond to the emergency and then developed a 24-month Recovery & Reset Plan to accelerate our region’s recovery from the pandemic. Actions include job training and placement programs, grants for businesses and more. With implementation underway, Olympia is now turning its attention to planning for the long-term resiliency of our city and community.

PURPOSE

Building off Thurston Strong, Olympia Strong invites the public to explore how we can expand upon valued economic strengths, remove barriers and create new opportunities that elevate more people of all backgrounds and abilities into financial stability, help more businesses succeed and prosper, attract investment and generate new revenue to fund community goals and needs.

Olympia Strong will inform an update to the economic goals and policies in the Comprehensive Plan, City actions, partnership and investments, and the annual workplan for Olympia’s Economic Development department.
