Olympia Area Chinese Association – Upcoming July Events

To enrich community engagement and promote environmental awareness, the Olympia Area Chinese Association (OACA) will be organizing & participating in the following events in July:

 Event 1: July 4th Independence Day Parade

OACA will organize a group of six middle and high school student volunteers to participate in the Tumwater Independence Day parade. Volunteers will walk along the parade route holding banners representing OACA and the Olympia Chinese School, and distribute flyers to spectators to introduce our organization and school to the broader community.

 Event 2: Environmental Awareness Series

To promote environmental education within our community, OACA will host two activities as part of the projects funded by HEAL Capacity-Building Grant that OACA received:

• Saturday, July 12: A group visit to The WET Science Center in downtown Olympia, where children will learn how water is treated and the importance of protecting water resources.
• Saturday, July 19: A special environmental lecture by Mr. Mingta Lin, who will share his expertise on how to avoid chemical toxins.

为了丰富社区互动并提高青少年对环保的意识，奥林匹亚华人协会（OACA）将在七月份组织或参与以下活动：

活动一：7月4日国庆游行
7月4日，OACA将组织六名初高中学生志愿者参加国庆游行。志愿者将沿着游行路线行进，手举代表OACA和奥林匹亚中文学校的横幅，并向观众分发宣传资料，向更广泛的社区介绍我们的协会和学校。

活动二：环保系列活动
为了推动社区的环保教育，OACA将在我们获得的HEAL能力建设资助项目下举办以下两项活动：

• 7月12日星期六：组织孩子们参观奥林匹亚市中心的WET水资源科学中心，学习污水是如何处理的，以及保护水资源的重要性。
• 7月19日星期六：举办一场特别环保讲座，邀请林明达先生分享如何避免化学毒素的知识和经验。
